big and chunky

For a while now I have been longing to make one of those big, chunky throws. Finally for Christmas, Charlie bought me some beautiful chunky yarn.  It was a dream come true and of course, I was so excited that I made it on Christmas day. The needles are a whopping size 120! I had to sit down and prop the needles up against my legs in order to knit. After only a few hours of knitting, I completed my first big, chunky throw and want to make more! I’ve already had a few people (friends and family) asking to make them a blanket, and of course, I said YES! I recently made one for my friend as a housewarming gift and my next one will be a mini-sized for our living room. Even though I love the chunky, extreme knitting, the only drawback is that the upkeep for the roving can be a little bit more than one expected. First, it pills very easily and you can only dry clean it. I don’t mind some pilling and I do love to use it daily, but we have a dog and the little dog hairs get stuck in it. I have to gently cut off the little fuzzies with scissors. In the end, chunky blankets satisfies that urge to finish a project quickly!
